Live – EMDR for Addictive Disorders: Urge Reduction & Trigger Desensitization

Live – EMDR for Addictive Disorders: Urge Reduction & Trigger Desensitization

At the core of many addictive disorders is the history or experience of psychological trauma. So, how do we more specifically address addiction with one of the most popular trauma therapies in use today (i.e. EMDR)?

The DeTUR method is a specific evidence based EMDR protocol for targeting triggers and urges associated with addictive behaviors. The DeTUR method uses an urge reduction model with the goal of desensitizing triggers/urges and getting to the root core trauma that has led to the dysfunctional behaviors that are associated with addictive tendencies.

Self-Regulation Skills for Kids & Teens to Reduce Trauma, Anxiety, & More

Self-Regulation Skills for Kids & Teens to Reduce Trauma, Anxiety, & More

For those who see kids and teens in therapy, restoring a young person’s ability to self-regulate their emotions can be a challenging, yet extremely important undertaking. While we think of self-regulation as an early skill important for social, emotional, and academic growth, it is also key to a healthy, enjoyable, independent, and interconnected adulthood later in life.

Join us for an informative and interactive workshop discovering play-based mindfulness strategies for resilience and regulation at all ages. Different techniques will engage different kids and teens through arts, sports, games, music, technology and more, for attention spans ranging from 30 seconds to 30 minutes.

This practical workshop will focus on adapting skills for individuals and groups of all ages and settings. Learning differences, cultural differences, and developmental differences will be explored, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. We will discuss tailoring techniques to a range of presenting issues including depression, anxiety, ADHD, executive function challenges, addiction, impulse control difficulties, trauma, and stress.

Live Event – Perinatal Mental Health Disorders: Early Identification & Treatment Tools

Live Event – Perinatal Mental Health Disorders: Early Identification & Treatment Tools

Perinatal mental health disorders have historically been overlooked or disregarded as “baby blues,” but we can no longer ignore this underserved population. 1 in 5 women now experience significant symptoms of depression and/or anxiety during pregnancy or postpartum. Perinatal mental health disorders have unique risk factors, symptoms, and treatments not often discussed in graduate school mental health programs and not specifically listed in the DSM-5-TR, despite the fact that there is significant research around these mental health challenges. Focus and attention in this area of mental health treatment is imperative to ensure we are providing whole self care for young women and families!

In this workshop you will learn about prevalence, risks factors, specific perinatal mental health diagnoses, commonly used assessment tools, and basic treatment strategies to begin effectively serving families in the perinatal period. If you work with individuals or families in the childbearing years, this workshop will significantly increase your understanding of their most critical challenges.
