The Guidance Center – AZ brings its licensed clinicians an informative in-house 1-hour training with clinical psychologist, neuroscientist, author, and trauma expert Dr. Jennifer Sweeton. Dr. Sweeton will discuss various important-to-know aspects treating current, ongoing traumatic stressors (e.g. racism, sexism, systemic inequalities, pandemic-related illness, etc.).

This mini-seminar focuses on considerations for treating clients experiencing ongoing trauma, clarifying which techniques show the most promise for addressing current trauma, and ways to support clients as they navigate long-term traumatic situations.

Objectives:

This training will provide participants clinical knowledge and tools to:

a). Name at least two considerations of treating current, ongoing trauma.

b). State two types of trauma therapy that can be modified to treat current trauma.

 

Target Audience:

The target audience for this event includes psychologists, social workers, counselors, MFT’s, and other clinical mental health professionals.

Originally trained as a neuroscientist, Dr. Jennifer Sweeton is a clinical and forensic psychologist, Amazon #1 best-selling author, and internationally-recognized expert on trauma, anxiety, and the neuroscience of mental health. She is the author of the book, Trauma Treatment Toolbox, published by PESI Publishing & Media. Dr. Sweeton completed her doctoral training at the Stanford University School of Medicine, the Pacific Graduate School of Psychology, and the National Center for PTSD. Additionally, she holds a master’s degree in affective neuroscience from Stanford University, and studied behavioral genetics at Harvard University.
