Description
Excessive screen time exposure can contribute to disrupted sleep patterns by increasing physiological arousal and interference with melatonin secretion. This training is designed for professionals interested in learning how excessive screen time exposure effects overall sleep quality and its associated short and long-term consequences. A section of this training will examine the impact COVID-19 and excessive home confinement has had on screen time exposure habits and sleep disturbances. Other topics discussed in this training include internalization and externalizing behavioral problems, executive dysfunction, self-regulation issues, psychiatric comorbidity, and poor health outcomes. Implications for screening and intervention will be explored. Empirically-based research findings will be presented throughout this training.
