Helping clients recover from a traumatic past can be difficult, but what if the trauma is ongoing? For many clients, trauma isn’t just a past event, or series of events, it is a part of their everyday life. Racism, sexism, systemic inequalities, pandemic-related illness, current events, and other toxic stressors are common weekly, or even daily, occurrences. While many trauma treatment approaches can work well for past trauma, treating current trauma is an entirely different challenge. This seminar focuses on how to treat clients experiencing ongoing trauma, clarifying which techniques show the most promise for addressing current trauma, and ways to support clients as they navigate long-term traumatic situations.
