For those who see kids and teens in therapy, restoring a young person’s ability to self-regulate their emotions can be a challenging, yet extremely important undertaking. While we think of self-regulation as an early skill important for social, emotional, and academic growth, it is also key to a healthy, enjoyable, independent, and interconnected adulthood later in life.
Join us for an informative and interactive workshop discovering play-based mindfulness strategies for resilience and regulation at all ages. Different techniques will engage different kids and teens through arts, sports, games, music, technology and more, for attention spans ranging from 30 seconds to 30 minutes.
This practical workshop will focus on adapting skills for individuals and groups of all ages and settings. Learning differences, cultural differences, and developmental differences will be explored, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. We will discuss tailoring techniques to a range of presenting issues including depression, anxiety, ADHD, executive function challenges, addiction, impulse control difficulties, trauma, and stress.
**This is a 3.5-CE noninteractive, self-paced online video course delivered in home study format via an industry-standard online learning platform**
Objectives:
This training will provide participants clinical knowledge and tools to:
a). After completing this training, participants will be able to learn and understand how to use mindfulness in creative ways that break through resistance and maximize engagement both in and out of the clinical hour.
b). After completing this training, participants will be able to explore and practice specific strategies to tailor self-regulation to a diagnosis and development.
c). After completing this training, participants will be able to learn and explore dozens of proven practices that help children with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other common presenting concerns.
d). After completing this training, participants will be able to understand and explore the exciting neuroscience behind mindfulness and productive and helpful ways to share that information with kids and families.

**This is a special two-day, 15-CE live webinar event**
Learn NDIT start-to-finish, Dr. Jennifer Sweeton’s new brain-based therapy approach.
NOTE: This is NDIT Level 1 training, which will qualify attendees to register for and attend NDIT Level 2 Training (forthcoming in mid-to-late 2024).
All completed live attendees will be eligible to apply this course toward overall NDIT Certification, when the comprehensive program is rolled out in recorded home study format (anticipated late 2024).

Evidence-informed therapies for PTSD can be either rigid and prescriptive, making it difficult to stay client-centered, or largely theoretical, sometimes lacking in practical application. Developed by a neuroscientist and clinical psychologist, Neural Desensitization and Integration Training (NDIT) is a flexible, module-based, trauma-focused approach to PTSD that integrates elements from EMDR, multichannel eye movement integration, prolonged exposure, IFS, and cognitive behavioral therapies. NDIT helps clients recover from post-trauma symptoms by specifically targeting and restoring the healthy functioning of these five key brain regions impacted by trauma:
- Amygdala,
- Hippocampus,
- Insula,
- Cingulate cortex, and
- Prefrontal cortex.
Grounded in decades of both brain science and empirical clinical research, NDIT is the first approach of its kind to bridge the gap between neuroscience and clinical practice.
NDIT consists of five distinct modules, each of which focuses on key skills associated with healthy brain change in specific brain regions. NDIT facilitates therapeutic brain change by teaching clients how to……
- enhance attunement and connection with others (using techniques targeting multiple brain regions),
- safely reconnect with their bodies (using insula-targeted techniques),
- regulate their nervous system (using amygdala-targeted techniques),
- strengthen their cognitive abilities (using cingulate and prefrontal cortex-targeted techniques), and
- gently process trauma in a titrated manner, minimizing retraumatization (using hippocampus and prefrontal cortex-targeted techniques).
Additionally, NDIT focuses on what clients can do outside of therapy sessions to facilitate faster progress in therapy. NDIT modules are strategically sequenced to accelerate neuroplasticity, helping clients move with natural brain change, not against it.
This comprehensive, Level I NDIT course teaches clinicians basic NDIT skills from start to finish, equipping them to immediately begin using NDIT skills in their own practice. Registration includes detailed NDIT slides, handouts, worksheets, and scripts.
