This specialized course in Internal Family Systems will teach clinicians how to use Cinema Therapy to supplement an overall IFS therapy framework. Join IFS (Level 2) trained therapist Justin Martin, MA, LMHC as he walks clinicians through understanding how to use film and relevant and applicable movie scenes to help evoke parts, use them in the healing of trauma and other psychological wounds, and assist in creating inner harmony within ourselves and the clients we work with. The course will consist of educational and experiential components that will help further your development as a therapist and increase your overall understanding of Internal Family Systems and Cinema Therapy applications.

0:00-0:45 – Overview of IFS and Overview of Cinema Therapy

0:45-2:15 – Using scenes to evoke parts and relate to clients differently

2:15-3:00 – Techniques, ethics, and other considerations for clinical use

 

Objectives:

This training will provide participants clinical knowledge and tools to:

a). Learn and understand the basic tenants of the classic IFS framework and Cinema Therapy.

b). Understand and describe how to use movie scenes or relevant parts of a cinematic work to relate to parts and evoke parts of the self.

c). Learn and practice implementing cinema therapy techniques to supplement IFS work with clients.

 

Target Audience:

The target audience for this event includes psychologists, social workers, counselors, MFT’s, psychiatrists and other clinical mental health professionals.

Justin Martin is a Certified IFS Therapist (Level 2) and a trained Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Orlando, FL. He has been practicing IFS for the last 4 years in a private practice setting where he specializes in men’s work, couples and relationship therapy, and parts work with those clients who are curious about IFS. Justin enjoys music, movies, and poetry. He often weaves these passions into his work with clients, finding that it helps them access inner harmony. Justin is continuously inspired by his clients, walking alongside them as they develop trust and courage to become vulnerable enough to explore their deepest inner selves. He holds this privilege with the highest regard, as greater comfort with emotional risk brings the greatest possibility for personal growth.
