Such a stigma exists around sexual addiction that too few seek help when they need it and not enough trained clinicians are available to clinically treat it as well as validate its existence as a growing mental health concern. In the same vein, there exists too few opportunities to train in this area, possibly driven by the extreme amount of taboo around sexual behavioral disorders.
It is estimated that 12-30 million people within the U.S. suffer with a sexual addictive disorder. There continues to be a stigma in the world today related to addictive sexual behaviors with little to no understanding about the origin and cause of these behaviors. In this course you will learn how sexual and behavioral addictive disorders form, as well as the importance of attachment as an implication for risk and success in treatment. In addition you will learn how to effectively address clients that wrestle with sexual addictive disorders.
