Yes, our courses are accepted by the Maine Board of Counseling Professionals Licensure for a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC).
Once you complete a course (and associated quiz and evaluation), your certificate is instantly available for download. It includes everything your board needs.
You can take as few or as many courses as you need—it's flexible!
To become a Maine Clinical Professional Counselor, you generally need a qualifying graduate counseling degree, required clinical internship, supervised post-graduate experience, and the required licensing examinations. Maine also uses a conditional clinical license while counselors complete their supervised experience requirements.
Maine requires a graduate counseling degree with at least 60 graduate credit hours. A CACREP-accredited master's program may qualify, while non-CACREP programs must meet Maine's required core and additional areas of study.
The requirement depends partly on the graduate internship. A 900-hour clinical counseling internship generally leads to 3,000 hours of supervised experience over at least two years, while a 600-hour internship generally requires 4,000 supervised hours over at least two years.
Maine requires the NCE for the Conditional Clinical Professional Counselor (XL) license and the NCMHCE for the independent Clinical Professional Counselor (CC) license. The Maine Board states that applicants transitioning to the CC level must have passing scores on both examinations.
A Conditional Clinical Professional Counselor (XL) practices under supervision while completing Maine's required post-graduate clinical experience. A Clinical Professional Counselor (CC/LCPC) is an independent clinical license whose holders may diagnose and treat mental health disorders and engage in private practice without the conditional supervision requirement.
