CE That Meets Nevada Requirements

If you’re a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Nevada, the requirements are:

A minimum of forty (40) contact hours of continuing education (CE) is required every two years for license renewal. Continuing education requirements may be prorated for newly licensed practitioners based on the initial licensure period.

At least six (6) contact hours of the forty (40) must be devoted to ethics specifically pertaining to the practice of marriage and family therapy.

At least four (4) contact hours must be in evidence-based suicide prevention and awareness, and At least six (6) contact hours must be in cultural competency, diversity, equity, and inclusion as required under current Nevada continuing education regulations; a maximum of twenty (20) contact hours may be completed via non-interactive distance learning (e.g., home study or recorded courses). The remainder must be interactive online or live in-person.

Yes, our courses are accepted by the Nevada NV Board of Examiners for MFTs and Clinical Professional Counselors for a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

Once you complete a course (and associated quiz and evaluation), your certificate is instantly available for download. It includes everything your board needs.

You can take as few or as many courses as you need—it's flexible!

Nevada LMFT applicants generally need a qualifying graduate degree in marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work, or an equivalent field, with the required graduate coursework, plus at least two years of postgraduate supervised experience and the applicable licensing examination. Nevada’s education rules generally require the graduate degree to include at least 60 semester hours or 72 quarter hours.

Nevada requires at least 3,000 hours of supervised marriage and family therapy experience, including at least 1,500 hours of direct client contact. The postgraduate experience must span at least two years, and applicants completing Nevada experience must obtain an MFT Intern license before beginning the supervised experience used for licensure.

An MFT Intern is licensed to practice under an approved supervision agreement while completing the postgraduate clinical experience required for full licensure. A full LMFT has completed the required education, supervised experience, and examination requirements for independent licensure in Nevada.

Nevada law allows an applicant to satisfy the examination requirement with a passing score on the national marriage and family therapy examination sponsored by the Association of Marital and Family Therapy Regulatory Boards (AMFTRB) in place of the Board’s written examination.

Nevada LMFT licenses operate on a biennial renewal cycle and expire on January 1 every other year. The current Board renewal fee for a full MFT license is $450, and renewal is completed through the Board’s online licensing system after satisfying the applicable CE requirements.
