Yes, our courses are accepted by the Nebraska Board of Mental Health Practice for a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP).
Once you complete a course (and associated quiz and evaluation), your certificate is instantly available for download. It includes everything your board needs.
You can take as few or as many courses as you need—it's flexible!
Nebraska LMHP applicants need a qualifying master’s or doctoral degree, or equivalent graduate education, primarily focused on therapeutic mental health, including an approved practicum or internship. The current application guidance also requires at least 60 graduate semester hours, along with the required supervised experience and a Board-approved examination.
Nebraska requires 3,000 hours of postgraduate supervised mental health practice, including at least 1,500 hours of direct client contact. The remaining hours may include activities such as record review, case conferences, direct observation, and video observation, and the supervisee must have evaluative face-to-face contact with a qualified supervisor for at least 1 hour per week.
A Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (PLMHP) is completing the supervised experience required for full LMHP licensure and must practice under supervision. An LMHP has completed Nebraska’s education, 3,000-hour supervised-experience, and examination requirements for full mental health practitioner licensure.
An LMHP may provide mental health services but may not independently diagnose a major mental illness or disorder except in consultation with an LIMHP, qualified physician, or licensed clinical psychologist. An LIMHP, or Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner, has additional qualifications that permit independent diagnosis and treatment of major mental illnesses and disorders.
Yes, beginning January 1, 2027. Nebraska law will require LMHPs and LIMHPs to complete at least 2 hours of continuing education in domestic-abuse counseling every two years, taught by an instructor who meets the statutory training and experience requirements.
