CE That Meets Alaska Requirements

If you’re a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Alaska, the requirements are:

A minimum of forty (40) continuing education hours is required every 2 years for LPC license renewal in Alaska, due by October 31 of even-numbered years.. First time renewals pro-rated based on amount of time licensed during first cycle.

At least three (3) hours must cover ethics for each cycle. New licensees must complete a one-time three (3) hour course on suicide prevention within two years of initial licensure.

At least 20 of the required CE contact hours must be earned through synchronous courses, seminars, or workshops, and not more than half of the required CE hours may come from correspondence, videotape, audiocassette, or other individual study programs.

Alaska rules allow a licensee to request a waiver for good cause, but the request must be submitted in writing with supporting documentation. Good cause may include physical disability, serious illness, or a family emergency.
