This training is based on event speaker Robert Cox’s book, “The Life Recovery Method: Autism Treatment From A Trauma Perspective.” Robert will dive deep dive into autism and its diagnosis and treatment, including case studies from Robert’s own history with the disorder. Assessment, treatment modalities (including play therapy), and methods for improving outcomes will also be covered.

Objectives:
This training will provide participants clinical knowledge and tools to:
a). Assess the level of ASD in individuals.
b). Assess sensory needs and begin developing a cursory sensory diet.
c). Assess areas of Executive Functioning that may be affected.
d). Describe how Autism acts as a trauma on the brain and impact this has on individuals.
e). Use methods to begin helping individuals to improve brain function.
f). Assist individuals in increasing socialization and communication skills.

Mental Health Clinicians & Therapists, Social Workers, Psychologists, Marriage & Family Therapists, Counselors, School Personnel, Youth Development Workers; Healthcare Workers.
