Objectives:

This training will provide participants clinical knowledge and tools to:

a). Name ADHD diagnostic criteria for children and adolescents.

b). State the features and prevalence of ADHD.

c). Distinguish and implement appropriate measures for clinical assessment of ADHD.

d). State how ADHD is differentiated from other disorders and co-morbid disorders.

e). Describe current scientific understanding of Executive Functioning and compare and contrast that when diagnosing ADHD.

f). Identify and incorporate research based treatments for ADHD in children and adolescents within your practice.

g). Identify and incorporate therapeutic strategies and interventions for children with ADHD and their families.

h). Practice strategies that will facilitate continuity of care when working with schools.

i). Describe current research on the use of media, social media, and gaming and how it impacts a child or adolescent with ADHD.

 

Target Audience:

The target audience for this event includes psychologists, social workers, counselors, MFT’s, and other clinical mental health professionals.

Material Author(s): Tish Taylor, PhD

Dr. Tish Taylor is a licensed psychologist with a private practice in the greater Kansas City area.  She has an established practice helping children with ADHD and their families.  She is also a licensed school psychologist and has years of experience working within school districts as a psychologist and coordinator of mental health services.  In addition, Dr. Taylor is an adjunct professor teaching Child Development for many years.  She has previously co-edited a book entitled “Taking Sides: Controversial Issues in Classroom Management”.  She is the new author of “Parenting ADHD with Wisdom and Grace”.
