ADHD Treatment for Adults: Trauma-Informed Care to Empower and Motivate Clients

Price $75
CE's 2.5 CE’s

Introduction

Date Course Created: May 2026

This practical, skills-heavy course offers a new perspective on treating adult ADHD through a trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming lens. Many adults with ADHD enter therapy with a history of feeling like they have “underperformed,” often alongside co-occurring anxiety, depression, and trauma from chronic misattunement or stress. This training moves beyond surface-level strategies to address the deep-seated shame, threat physiology, and learned avoidance that can accompany executive function challenges.

The course provides a clear framework for differentiating ADHD-related impairments from trauma responses and other common comorbidities, allowing for a more accurate and compassionate case conceptualization. You will learn to reframe damaging narratives around laziness or a lack of motivation, instead focusing on the neurological and developmental impacts of ADHD. The training emphasizes practical interventions that can be used immediately with clients to help them get unstuck and create meaningful change.

With a focus on tangible application, this webinar equips you with specific strategies to build client motivation, improve emotional regulation, and implement effective executive function supports. You will explore how to integrate techniques from motivational interviewing, ACT, IFS, and DBT to address core challenges like rejection sensitivity, perfectionism, and overwhelm. You’ll leave with a robust toolkit of concrete scaffolds and strategies to empower your clients on their path to healing and growth!

This is a 2.5-CE noninteractive, self-paced online video course delivered in home study format via an industry-standard online learning platform.
