This course equips therapists to conceptualize and treat ADHD through a trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming lens, providing a clear framework for differentiating core features from trauma responses and other common co-occurring presentations..
Dive into core, evidence-based interventions, including behavior management training for caregivers and organizational skills training for children and teens. Learn to integrate CBT approaches specifically tailored to target the downstream effects of executive function challenges, such as avoidance, low motivation, emotional dysregulation, and negative self-talk. Participants will gain confidence in coaching parents and adapting strategies to be developmentally appropriate for their clients.
Beyond direct interventions, the training addresses the crucial components of a holistic support system. You will learn practical strategies for effective school collaboration, including navigating 504/IEP supports and improving communication with educators. The course also covers how to integrate stimulant medications and behavioral interventions with healthy lifestyle foundations to create a comprehensive treatment plan. You will leave with concrete tools that can be implemented immediately in your sessions to support and empower families.

Objectives
This training will provide participants clinical knowledge and tools to:
After completing this training, participants will be able to differentiate ADHD symptoms from trauma-related responses and other comorbidities, and formulate a neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed case conceptualization.- After completing this training, participants will be able to apply at least three behavior parent-training strategies and coach caregivers to implement them confidently and consistently.
- After completing this training, participants will be able to implement organizational skills training elements (e.g., task-chunking, external scaffolds, planner systems, homework routines) and adapt them by developmental stage.
- After completing this training, participants will be able to integrate CBT techniques for EF-related difficulties (e.g., activation for task initiation, exposure for schoolwork avoidance, cognitive restructuring for shame/RSD) and collaborate with schools and prescribers to build holistic support plans.
