This training provides evidence-based methods to assess for ADHD in your clients. Dr. Bruce Cappo, Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in assessment, will provide a comprehensive assessment methodology useful for those permitted to provide ADHD assessment services in their state of practice. Learn to deploy a comprehensive ADHD assessment battery and some useful differential diagnoses that commonly mimic ADHD.

This seminar will discuss the various options in obtaining and analyzing data in the diagnosis of ADHD including: Observation, History, Self-report, Parent or other report through rating scales, Continuous performance tests and Clinical interview. The inclusion of objective measures in addition to more traditional measures is recommended to yield a higher level of accuracy.

Objectives:

This training will provide participants clinical knowledge and tools to:

a). After completing this training, participants will be able to learn and understand how to comprehensively assess for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

b). After completing this training, participants will be able to understand the various objective and subjective assessment tasks as well as strengths and weaknesses of each.

c). After completing this training, participants will be able to understand and describe alternative diagnoses that may mimic ADHD symptoms.

 

Target Audience:

The target audience for this event includes psychologists, counselors, psychiatrists and other clinical mental health professionals permitted to provide ADHD assessment services in their state of practice. .

Dr. Cappo started Clinical Associates, P.A. in 1992 and practices as a board certified licensed psychologist in this multidisciplinary private practice setting which includes offices throughout Kansas and Missouri. Clinical Associates includes more than 85 professional service providers including licensed psychiatrists, licensed doctoral psychologists, licensed advanced practice nurse practitioners, licensed masters level psychologists, licensed specialist clinical social workers, licensed clinical marriage and family therapists, licensed substance abuse counselors and other masters level associates. Dr. Cappo’s practice is limited to evaluation and consultation. He is a Fellow and Past-President of the Kansas Psychological Association and a Past-President of the Kansas Association of Professional Psychologists. He has served on the University of Minnesota Press Advisory Committee related to psychological assessment and is an Ad Hoc reviewer for several journals. His practice is focused in three areas: Forensic evaluations and consultation, evaluations related to public safety, and evaluations related to diagnosis and treatment planning.
