Introduction
Date Course Created: February 2026
Mental health begins in the brain – but brain health begins in the gut, mitochondria, and cells.
Join us for a powerful day of discovery at the Neuronutrition Summit, where neuroscience meets nutritional science to illuminate cutting-edge connections between food, inflammation, brain function, and mental illness.
Featuring three renowned experts, this 5-CE event will unpack how diet impacts cognition, mood, trauma recovery, and neurodevelopmental disorders like ADHD. With practical insights, clinical frameworks, and digestible (pun intended) science, this summit will equip you to integrate the fundamentals of neuronutrition into your therapy room and client care strategies – even without becoming a dietitian.
Whether you’re working with trauma survivors, neurodivergent individuals, or clients with anxiety, depression, or chronic stress, you’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of the brain-body connection and how to leverage it to enhance healing.
Panelists & Topics:
- Dr. Jerrod Brown, PhD, MA, MS, MS, MS – Expert in neurodevelopment and behavioral health, Dr. Brown will examine the psychological impacts of the Standard American Diet and the profound role nutrition plays in managing ADHD. His session emphasizes a holistic, multi-disciplinary approach to treatment by exploring how prenatal and postnatal environmental factors, chrononutrition, and lifestyle medicine affect brain health.
- Dr. John Arden, PhD, ABPP – Internationally renowned brain-based therapy expert Dr. Arden will discuss how the sugar-laden Western diet drives chronic inflammation and metabolic syndrome. He will detail how this cellular-level damage, fueled by glycation and mitochondrial burnout, significantly contributes to neurological issues like depression, anxiety, and dementia.
- Dr. Jennifer Sweeton, PsyD, JD, MS, MA – Neuroscientist and clinical psychologist Dr. Sweeton will explore the crucial role of neuronutrition in trauma recovery and brain-based therapy. Her segment offers practical insights into how targeted nutrition can heal trauma-induced oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, and gut-brain disruptions to enhance psychotherapeutic outcomes.
This is a 5-CE noninteractive, self-paced online video course delivered in home study format via an industry-standard online learning platform.

Objectives
Segment 1: Managing ADHD and Attention Issues with Nutrition
After completing this training, participants will be able to define ADHD and neuronutrition.
After completing this training, participants will be able to identify the core symptoms and underlying causes of ADHD.
After completing this training, participants will be able to understand how dietary patterns, malnutrition, and other unhealthy lifestyle behaviors can contribute to the onset and exacerbation of ADHD symptoms.
Segment 2: The Western Diet: Chronic Inflammation and Metabolic Dysfunction
After completing this training, participants will learn how inflammation and metabolic dysfunctions are associated with impaired mental health, including depression, anxiety, and cognitive decline.
After completing this training, participants will be able to understand how diet is directly related to inflammation, metabolic dysfunction and impaired mental health.
Segment 3: Fueling Brain Healing: How Nutrition Supports Trauma Recovery and Neuroplasticity
After completing this training, participants will be able to understand the effects of trauma on brain structure and function, including amygdala hyperactivity, hippocampal shrinkage, and prefrontal cortex hypoactivity, and identify common nutritional deficiencies in trauma survivors that exacerbate these changes.
After completing this training, participants will be able to explore how specific nutrients, such as DHA, curcumin, and zinc, modulate neuroplasticity by supporting synaptogenesis, neurogenesis, and BDNF production to aid trauma recovery.
After completing this training, participants will be able to analyze the synergy between nutrition and brain-based trauma therapies, such as EMDR and CPT, to enhance emotional processing, stabilize mood, and reduce hyperarousal in clients.
