In this video seminar for mental health clinicians, speaker Dr. Jennifer Sweeton will discuss the main areas of the brain involved in addiction, the reward circuit, and neurochemicals involved in reward, motivation, and addiction. Brain-informed clinical implications and practical techniques will also be introduced. Course materials include an electronic copy of the PowerPoint slides and scripts for all techniques presented.
Objectives:
a). Name and describe the “addiction hub” of the brain.
b). Identify the structures of the brain that comprise the mesolimbic pathway in the brain.
c). State and practice at least two techniques that can help increase self-awareness and reduce relapse in clients.

The target audience for this event includes psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, licensed counselors, MFT’s, and other clinical mental health professionals.
