Artificial Intelligence is now a part of almost any service delivery platform we use in daily life. While AI has long been in our presence – think of ATM machines coming out in the late 1960’s – it is now performing tasks (e.g. private, complex, or interpersonally valuable human interactions) that have long been considered out of the realm of [relatively] hands-off predictive automation. Whether we like it or not, predictive AI is here. It holds tremendous capability to streamline services and help providers reach more people in need. But, it is important we do it carefully and in a way that preserves client confidentiality, informed consent, and the integrity of the therapeutic relationship.

Please join us to increase your awareness, knowledge, and skills to ethically integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into your clinical documentation practices. Artificial Intelligence is revolutionizing many aspects of our lives – to include healthcare, behavioral healthcare, and the entire medical record. It is absolutely crucial for behavioral health professionals to maintain adequate data security, patient privacy, integrity of the patient-provider relationship, and thorough mandatory disclosure as they adopt new AI tools in clinical service delivery. It is also important to protect overall trust and confidence in the therapy process amidst this historic change in the healthcare landscape.

Jodi Geis-Crowder brings 27 years of experience to this cutting edge and important topic. Learners will get a modern refresh of the ethical code as the lens through which the training will be viewed. Positive and negative aspects of this new technology driven way of delivering and managing therapy service delivery will be addressed. Attendees will have the opportunity to apply this knowledge to case examples and ask questions of the speaker.

In addition to the below formal course objectives, this workshop will include the following additions:
  • A general ethics review to educate attendees on the importance of keeping ethics at the forefront of their practice and to meet requirements for state licensing boards.
  • An opportunity to create an ethical decision making model.
  • An opportunity to apply knowledge gained in the course to clinical case examples.
  • How adapting to and strategically adopting new technology can reduce inefficiency and error while increasing standardization and adherence to best practice that can be lost when the workflow is manually driven.
