We are beginning to see in the field that addictions are trauma rooted. But that trauma is seldom limited to the individual who struggles. Not infrequently, it is generational and the role that the addict has played in the family has served to continue the family trauma. Addiction is indeed a family disease and we will journey into the family dynamics to look at how to support individuals struggling with addiction in a way that will increase the odds for long term recovery and family healing.
