Introduction

Date Course Created: July 2026

This compassionate and insightful course is designed to deepen your understanding of clients with co-occurring Autism and ADHD (AuDHD). Moving beyond traditional labels, the training embraces a neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed approach, helping you create a more validating and empowering therapeutic space.

The course delves into the intricate ways autism and ADHD can overlap, amplifying certain challenges while also highlighting unique strengths. It also examines how systemic biases and harmful, pathologizing narratives can impact a client’s well-being, challenging clinicians to move beyond deficit-based models. You will learn to apply neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed principles to your case conceptualizations, resulting in a more holistic and effective treatment plan.

This focus on practical application provides concrete strategies for addressing key areas like executive functioning, sensory needs, and social-emotional regulation. You will explore how to adapt communication and therapy pacing and integrate targeted tools, such as visual supports and somatic interventions. Ultimately, this training equips you with the skills to better support AuDHD clients in building self-compassion, resilience, and a stronger connection to their identity.

This is a 2.75-CE noninteractive, self-paced online video course delivered in home study format via an industry-standard online learning platform.
