This course provides information about demographic trends, definitions and risk factors for depression, prevalence of depression, and the impact and cost of depression. It also provides a brief summary stating why implementation of evidence-based therapy practices (EBT’s) is important.
Objectives:
a). Describe characteristics of the older adult population and factors for achieving successful aging.
b). Discuss types, symptoms, and risk factors of depression in older adults.
c). Evaluate the advantages of using evidence-based practices to improve the health and functioning of older adults with depression.
d). Identify the various types of EBT’s used to treat depression in the older adult population.
Target Audience:
The target audience for this event includes psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, licensed counselors, MFT’s, and other clinical mental health professionals.
