Yes, our courses are accepted by the Connecticut CT Dept. of Public Health - Marital and Family Therapy Licensure for a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
Once you complete a course (and associated quiz and evaluation), your certificate is instantly available for download. It includes everything your board needs.
You can take as few or as many courses as you need—it's flexible!
Connecticut LMFT applicants need a qualifying graduate degree in marriage and family therapy, an approved supervised practicum or internship, the required postgraduate supervised experience, and a passing score on the national Marital and Family Therapy examination. Programs accredited by COAMFTE satisfy the core educational pathway, while other programs must meet Connecticut’s equivalent coursework requirements.
Connecticut requires at least 24 months of supervised postgraduate experience, including a minimum of 1,000 hours of direct client contact providing marriage and family therapy services. Applicants must also complete 100 hours of postgraduate clinical supervision, with at least 50 hours provided as individual supervision.
A Marital and Family Therapist Associate is the credential used while completing the supervised postgraduate experience required for full Connecticut LMFT licensure. An LMFT has completed the required education, supervised experience, and examination requirements for full independent licensure.
Connecticut requires applicants to pass the Examination in Marital and Family Therapy administered by the Association of Marital and Family Therapy Regulatory Boards (AMFTRB). Applicants must first complete the required application and education documentation before Connecticut authorizes examination registration.
No. A Connecticut LMFT applying for license renewal for the first time is exempt from the continuing education requirement for that first registration period. Beginning with the next renewal period, the standard 15-hour annual CE requirement applies.
