Yes, our courses are accepted by the Utah UT Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing for a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
Once you complete a course (and associated quiz and evaluation), your certificate is instantly available for download. It includes everything your board needs.
You can take as few or as many courses as you need—it's flexible!
Utah LMFT applicants generally need a qualifying master’s or doctoral degree in marriage and family therapy, completion of the required postgraduate supervised experience, and a passing score on the Marital and Family Therapy National Examination. Applicants from non-COAMFTE programs must also document that their graduate coursework and clinical practicum meet Utah’s specific educational requirements.
An Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) is the supervised credential used while completing Utah’s postgraduate experience requirement. A full Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT/LMFT) has completed the required education, supervised practice, and national examination requirements for independent licensure.
Utah requires 3,000 hours of postgraduate supervised mental health practice before full MFT licensure. These hours are documented while practicing under the AMFT credential and must satisfy Utah’s requirements for supervised mental health therapy and marriage and family therapy experience.
Utah requires applicants to pass the Marital and Family Therapy National Examination administered by AMFTRB. Official documentation of the passing score must be submitted as part of the full MFT licensure process.
Yes. Utah allows an LMFT who completes more than the required CE hours during a two-year renewal cycle to carry over up to 10 excess hours into the next renewal cycle. Hours earned before the license was granted cannot be carried forward.
