The most effective therapy approaches are those that put the client in the driver’s seat while utilizing the trained therapist as a collaborative guide and interactive facilitator of growth. ACT serves the client exactly in this way, which is why it has been gaining popularity in practice. Clients are now asking specifically to see ACT-trained therapists as it becomes more visible in research and media.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an evidence-based approach that helps clients develop psychological flexibility—the ability to engage with thoughts and emotions in a way that fosters meaningful action rather than avoidance. By integrating mindfulness, cognitive defusion, values-based interventions, and experiential techniques, ACT empowers individuals to navigate distress while pursuing a fulfilling life.

As societies experience rising levels of anxiety, depression, and existential distress, mental health professionals need effective, adaptable tools to address these challenges in a way that resonates with diverse clients. Training in ACT equips clinicians with a process-based, transdiagnostic framework that is backed by research and applicable across various clinical settings. Mastering ACT enables therapists to help clients break free from unhelpful patterns, enhance resilience, and create lasting behavioral change—a critical skillset for today’s evolving mental health landscape.

This Certificate in ACT Therapy Skills is a comprehensive training program designed to equip mental health professionals with a deep, practical understanding of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This six-module program provides a structured, step-by-step approach to mastering ACT principles, interventions, and strategies, culminating in the ACT-PT® (ACT Practitioner-Trained) certification credential.

By the end of this certification program, you will not only gain confidence in applying ACT in your clinical practice, but you’ll also develop a flexible, process-based approach to working with a diverse range of client needs. The skills you acquire will empower your clients to break free from avoidance patterns, increase psychological flexibility, and build lives driven by meaning and purpose.

Upon completion, you’ll be awarded the ACT-PT® credential, demonstrating your specialized training in ACT and setting you apart as a practitioner skilled in this evidence-based approach that is gaining popularity in psychotherapy among professionals, researchers, and prospective clients alike.

Why Choose Us?

Why Choose Our ACT Therapy Skills Program?

The ACT-PT® certification credential is exclusively available here on onlinececredits.com. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an evidence-based therapy approach that has been taught and practiced worldwide since the late 1980’s, now growing in influence and popularity as it has been shown to be at least as effective and adaptable as CBT across varying populations and disorders. Developed with a core set of actionable principles and processes with enough flexibility to suit virtually any therapy orientation, ACT is also rooted in eastern philosophies and mindfulness practices which are now thousands of years old.

The primary goal of ACT participation is to increase one’s ability to engage in the present and live up to one’s human potential despite unavoidable challenges. Particularly interesting given the increasing rates of isolation and loneliness, ACT has proven an effective intervention for depressive symptoms, especially at the 90 day follow-up period.

Given its wide adaptability, applicability, and proven effectiveness, comprehensive ACT training is a must-have, no brainer decision if you want to meet the needs of today’s clients!

This comprehensive certificate program provides you with the key strategies and techniques you need to learn to begin using ACT skills in your clinical practice immediately. And, you can do it in about 35 hours, which is consistent with the amount of time most clinicians require to learn other evidence-based therapies such as CBT or DBT. Much like many comprehensive continuing education training programs that offer a post-nominal credential, this ACT certificate program does not require that you pay money over and over just to keep your certificate. We believe that when you’ve gained ACT theoretical and practical mastery, you don’t lose your knowledge or skills after one year, or five years. Just as you don’t have to earn your degree over and over, ACT skills and competence are improved over time, not lost, so long as you continue to practice these skills. If you find that you’re getting a little rusty, or feeling a little tentative, we welcome you to attend our group consultations or retake/review one or more of your included on-demand ACT program courses at no additional cost.

When you earn your comprehensive ACT-PT® certification credential, it becomes a credibility marker that can help you communicate to potential clients that you’re ready and excited to help them get the relief they deserve! And because the certificate doesn’t expire, you don’t have to worry about anyone telling you to stop listing it on your website, directory listings, etc.
